Iowa State Fair

Last weekend we headed to the state fair and it was an interesting family outing.  We saw a plethora of food stands ranging from hot dogs, nachos, pizza, pork on a stick, deep fat fried twinkies, snickers, and oreos.  Just looking at some of the food stands made me nauseated knowing how much fat and grease there was.  Blah.

There were many things to do at the fair.  Unfortunately Hannah was too young for a lot of the things (like the rides) so we didn't do too much.  Ironically we didn't take very many pictures because Hannah was not excited to be at the fair as it was too loud and she was very tired (just look at her picture below...poor baby).  Plus, it was hot and poor little Hannah was sweaty.

But we did manage to take a few pictures of some things.  Here is a picture of a cattle show (I never in my life imagined I would have seen a cattle show).

One of the "biggest" attractions for the Iowa State fair was the butter sculpture of cow.

Another cool attraction was a man who does wood sculptures with a chainsaw.

Hannah however did not care for the man with the chainsaw.  With all the noise the chainsaw made Hannah was startled and it was the straw that broke the camels back (if you look closely, you can see a tear in her right eye).  She wanted nothing more than to leave, and that is just what we did.

Hannah certainly looks worried in that first photo of her! I say, "What a cute baby!"...even if I am the Grandmother.
