Quote of the week

Nathan was helping me get Hannah ready for bed last night. He and Hannah read some books for a while, and then he took her to her room to get ready for bed. He started changing her diaper (it was a poopy one) and as I came walking in I heard this:

"You know Hannah...it's really hard to clean your fat cracks."

Sticking to your guns!

Although we are free to make choices, we are NOT FREE to choose the consequences.

Now I am not the biggest BYU fan (or basketball fan) but I have to give MAJOR PROPS to BYU for sticking to their guns. It's about time that a university honors their code--even when it costs big time.

Round 2 is over

Round 2

Friday I took Hannah to the doctors office because she had some congestion in her nasal cavity and she had a dry cough. Thankfully the doctors office squeezed her in and she was able to be seen (though not by her primary doctor). The doctor looked at her and said that there was no fluid in her lungs, her ears were clear, but she just had a little congestion. She informed me to try and keep Hannah in a more upright position to allow things to drain and that we should call if it got worse.

Well it is worse! Runny nose, watery eyes, horrible cough, rosy cheeks, and she looks a little pale. We are now on round two of being sick. I feel so bad for her. It sounds like she has to labor to breath--even in her sleep. We are calling the doctor again tomorrow. I'm praying that it's not RSV. Praying, praying, and praying!

President's Day

Hannah wanted to wish everyone a Happy Presidents Day!

But she really showed her true colors when we told her it was not a paid holiday.

Valentine's Day

The Culmers had a busy Valentine's Day.

It started early as I had a doctors appointment at 8:00 am. Then I came home and worked on my computer for a few hours to catch up on emails, our finances/budget, and I also started some laundry all while tending to Hannah. She is such a happy baby.

Then Hannah helped me in the kitchen. We emptied the dishwasher, did dishes, prepared a new recipe for dinner, and did more dishes. She enjoyed watching me move all around in the kitchen dancing to music. Apparently it was too much work for her though so she checked out and took a nap.

Later, we opened the mail and Hannah got a Valentine's Day gift from Grandma Sorenson. Inside were 3 crisp $1 bills. When I was a little girl my Grandmother would mail us $3 in our cards for birthdays and holidays and we loved it. I'm so happy that my mom has decided to continue the tradition.

Eventually Nathan came home from work and we had an early dinner as he teaches a class on Monday nights. I am pleased to say that the new recipe turned out pretty well. It needs some tweaking, but it was a tasty meal all-in-all.

We decided to keep things pretty low key for V-day gifts. I made cupcakes for Nathan, and in return he got me my favorite candy--Peanut butter M&Ms. YUM!

California wrap up

I did not take as many pictures as I usually do this California trip and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it was because my attention was more on Hannah and her blessing that I just forgot. But here is a picture of our chubby girl at 8 weeks (who is sleeping through the night now--YES!).

One of the days I was in California my mom and I went and got pedicures. It's been a while since I've had one of those and it felt SO NICE! Thanks mom for the treat.

I also got to eat at some of my favorite places: In-N-Out, Del Taco, and Cafe Rio! YUMMY!!!!!! I wish they had those places out here in Iowa. We also got to visit lots with family (we wish they were out here in Iowa too).

There is one thing that I did mange to get a picture of. Hannah started smiling and making faces when we were on our trip. Perhaps she was trying to tell us that she prefers California over Iowa (that's my girl).
