On Saturday the boys strapped the canoe to Danny's trooper and we all headed to Silver Lake Flats. It was a beautiful day. We had good weather and GREAT scenery. Since Utah has had so much precipitation this year the mountains were exceptionally gorgeous and green. They even still had snow on them which is rare for Utah this time of year. This is the view we had at the lake--this is the back side of Mt. Timpanogas.
With those beautiful mountains staring us in the face all day long we decided to take some family photos.
LaMar, Sarah, Josh, and David were the first to adventure out on the lake. The kids were super excited.
After their return, Danny, Nathan, and myself took a turn in the canoe and explored around the lake. I got the royal treatment and didn't have to paddle. The Culmer boys are true gentlemen (thank you Roz and LaMar for raising such strapping boys).
Here are David, Josh, Roz, and Jen taking their turn in the canoe.
Here is Hannah chillin' after a solid meal.
As the day at silver lake flats started winding down Sarah wanted to make sure she got a second turn in the canoe because Josh did. So Nathan and LaMar decided to take Sarah out one last time. Unfortunately, just as they were departing the canoe tipped over and they fell in. Jen went into "mom mode" and ran into the lake to get Sarah. Here is a picture of the crew and rescuer. Sarah is saying "It's cold" in this picture.
Here's David showing the camera just how deep Nathan fell in the lake.
Cute little Sarah. We changed her clothes and got her all bundled up and warm (the Lake was indeed very cold). But she was determined to go back out and get her second turn in the canoe.
And here she is facing her fears! David said that the whole time she was clenching the side of the canoe (as you can see in this photo).
