Independence, Missouri

On Saturday June 27th, we were able to visit the Truman Library, and also see church history sites in Independence. There are currently 12 Presidential Libraries in the United States and we have now been to 4. So far, Ronald Regan's Library is our favorite because the old Air Force One plane has retired there.

We also saw the Community of Christ Temple (RLDS church). It was interesting to see the differences between their temples and the temples of the LDS church. Their Temple is used more as a meeting house.

After the Temple, we went across the street and did a tour of the LDS Visitors Center. We really enjoyed seeing pictures of the Savior and video presentations of what it was like when the saints arrived in Independence. They also have a new presentation on the Proclamation on the Family that was touching. It covers all aspects of life (birth, life, and death) and then concludes with the Savior and returning home to our Heavenly Father.
